About LeaderStrength™

About LeaderStrength

Cultural leadership assessment by experts, for cultural leaders.

Our Story

The best cultural leaders aren't well-rounded. They're self-aware.

LeaderStrength™ was born from over 25 years of executive coaching practice in the arts and cultural sector. Working closely with senior leaders across theatres, museums, galleries, festivals, and cultural organisations, we noticed a pattern: the most effective leaders weren't trying to be well-rounded. They were self-aware—and they built teams that completed the picture.

Too many cultural leaders were being told to "fix their weaknesses" or become someone they weren't. Meanwhile, organisations were struggling because they didn't understand the temperamental diversity needed in senior teams. LeaderStrength™ changes that conversation.

What We Believe

Four principles that shape the work.

Leadership is contextual

What works in one organisation or role may not work in another. Great leaders understand their context and adapt accordingly.

Teams beat individuals

No single leader can do it all. The best organisations are led by ensembles who complement each other's strengths.

Self-awareness is the foundation

You can't lead effectively if you don't understand your own temperament, blind spots, and where you need support.

Culture work is leadership work

Leading cultural organisations requires a unique blend of artistic vision, operational rigor, and relational intelligence.

Who Created This

25 years of cultural leadership, distilled.

George Perrin MBE presenting at a leadership conference

LeaderStrength™ was developed by George Perrin MBE, an executive coach and cultural leadership specialist with over 25 years of experience working with senior leaders in the arts and cultural sector. George has coached artistic directors, chief executives, producers, and senior teams across the UK and internationally.

Drawing on extensive coaching practice, research into leadership temperaments, and a deep understanding of the unique challenges facing cultural organisations, this assessment provides practical, sector-specific insights that actually help leaders grow.

"I wanted to create something that cultural leaders could use immediately—not just to understand themselves better, but to make practical decisions about team building, recruitment, and their own development. This isn't theory. It's what actually works in the messy reality of leading arts organisations."

— George Perrin MBE
